CIA v Cardinals: Match Report
CIA made a great start to the 2009/10 season with a 27-point win over the visiting Cardinals, 79-52. Power Forward Chi Lewis-Parry top scored with 26 points including two monster dunks whilst Darryl Lewis made a welcome return recording his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
CIA lept out to a strong first quarter lead, limiting the Cardinals to just 6 points for the quarter and leading at the end of the first, 20-6. Daniel Montaque dropped 8 points followed by Gene Brown with 4.
It was a different story in the second as CIA allowed the visitors back in. CIA scored just 5 points in the first 6 minutes of the second quarter, the Cardinals dragging it back to a 10 point game, 31-21. Coach Brown kept his team in a huddle during the half-time break and CIA responded by regaining their composure in the third off the back of tight defense from Point Guard, Babs Maye, extending the lead to 16, 50-34.
CIA stepped up the offensive pressure in the final quarter, Darryl Lewis grabbing 5 rebounds and 5 points whilst Chi Lewis-Parry dropped an impressive 16 points on 10-14 shooting to close out the game, 79-52.
Elsewhere in the LMBL the Knights got off to a similarly comfortable start, dismissing Euston Power by 23 points, 68-45. CIA travel to Greenwich on Monday night to face the Admirals before facing the Knights away a week later. They return home on 31st October when they face London Cruisers in the first round of the LMBL Cup. CIA currently sit top of the league.
