Cheam open with a win
The Sutton Schools League, sponsored by CIA Basketball, launched again on Thursday with Cheam Common opening against Forresters School. Both teams played well with the scores remaining close throughout the first and second quarter. However in the third quarter Cheam Common came alive with great positioning and scoring from Josh and Libby and masterful defence from Anci who was named as the ‘Coach’s Defensive Player of the Game’.
Cheam Common went on to win 20-10 and currently sit on top of the league table.
The Schools League gives an opportunity for young players to play regularly in a local and safe environment. Many of the schools are coached by CIA Basketball and their coaches continue to coach them throughout the tournament. Schools fight it out to be named Schools League Champs and take home the coveted SSBL Shield.
We’ll be releasing fixtures and results right here so you can track you team throughout the league. Congratulations to Cheam Common for their first win of the season and we look ahead to next week when Forresters take on former Champs Brookfield Primary and Cheam Common seek their second win against the mighty Westbourne Primary.
