| 2ND ANNUAL CIA FAMILY FESTIVAL |
| |
The 2ND Annual Family Festival attracted some of the
UK's finest athletes and performers as top professional basketball players
and award-winning music artists united to make a positive impact on our
local community.
The All-Star cast included Sky Sports presenter and the most successful
coach in British Basketball History Kevin Cadle, former England Head Coach
Peter Scantlebury MBE, former England International and current BBL Milton
Keynes Lion and current England International and GB Squad Member plus
captain of the championship-winning Guildford Heat.
Music performances came from MOBO nominated Gospel artist Jahaziel, who
performed an array of tracks from his debut solo album, 'Ready to Live'.
Performers were joined by the unique personality of BBC's Dragon's Den
winner Levi Roots and the Mayor of Merton, Martin Whelton.
Over 500 people were witness to an incredible dunk contest and an exhibition
game that went down to the wire, with the 'New School' avenging their
defeat at the hands of the 'Old School' last time around by walking away
victorious.
The very first 'Contribution to the Community' Award, sponsored by Molten
Sports, the official ball sponsor for the Family Festival, was awarded
to CIA co-founder Freddie Roberson. Freddie's tireless work in the community,
both with the basketball club and the Church deserved the recognition
and he was clearly touched by the sentiment. The award will now be an
annual award giving anyone the opportunity to be recognised for their
contributions to basketball and to the community specifically.
The entire event was filmed and will be televised. Stay tuned for more
details on where you can watch the exclusive highlights. |
