| CALIFORNIA LOVE FOR CHI |
| |
Former CIA forward Chi Lewis-Parry set
off for California this summer to compete in one of the nation's premier
Pro-Am Summer Leagues, the 'Drew League'. Home to some of the best up
and coming and established professional players, Chi would be competing
with talent from all around the world.
As we caught up with Chi just a few weeks into the tournament it seems
the 6'7" forward is turning heads. His team includes NBA player Baron
Davis of the Golden State Warriors but it's Chi who has impressed onlookers
as he stormed to an average of 11 points and 15 rebounds per game.
In last week's game against Hanks LBS, Lewis-Parry exploded for 29 points,
24 rebounds and 3 blocks and was awarded the California Player of the
Week award.
Speaking with Chi after the game he said, "I've never felt so good
in my life. I'm really working my butt off to be another Brit hitting
the big time, you know? I'm not just doing it for me, I'm doing it for
every baller back home just trying to get a break!"
The exposure of the league has already proved beneficial with strong interest
from D-League coaching staff at the Anaheim Arsenal but as Chi insists,
"we'll just have to wait and see."
Tony Brown, coach and founder of CIA and a long-time coach and friend
of Chi said "I knew he'd do well and I told him that. When I first
worked with him at Crystal Palace he had the potential to become an amazing
player and working on the fundamentals and getting his drop step right
he's unstoppable, used in the right way. It was great to have a chance
to catch up with him and work with him a little before he left and we're
all praying for him."

progresses. |
